“As an expat living and working in Amsterdam for some time, my husband and I found ourselves switching between one “furnished” apartment to the next. Eventually, we took the leap and found ‘our’ apartment – empty, ready for a vision, and ready to become ours. But, as it turns out, we were completely unprepared for empty. The apartment felt less like a home and more like a monocolor shell. And having spent so many years in other people’s idea of design, we didn’t even know what we would like or want. We were lost. I decided that one of the big changes I would make would be to take my hospital-white walls and warm them up, to try and make the place feel less sterile. Enter Niall. Recommended by others, I contacted Niall for help. His response time was incredibly fast, and we soon had an appointment. An utmost professional, Niall talked with us about needs – he gave suggestions, never pushing – and happily suggested we try out different colors and get a feel for what would work. He didn’t mind looking at the color wheel numerous times, and never pushed me to make decisions. His rates were fair and transparent. Once the date was set and the colors picked, I began to shop a bit more and try to create a home (the husband patiently laughing as I kept charging the credit card!). But still, the white walls were cold and uninviting. And then, painting day! In a near instant, our house was transformed to a home. Niall was perfectly on time every day, immaculately clean, and has one of the steadiest hands I have ever seen. He patiently listened to my morning chit-chat, and then simply got to work transforming the space. The work came out so beautifully that we extended it, asking him to do more, and he did – volunteering to work on a Saturday so that everything could be finished at the same time.
